Onconomics: Evaluate Chemotherapeutic Agents
Assess chemotherapy efficacy to guide cancer treatment
The Onconomics test examines which chemotherapeutic agents work best and which cancer drugs are ineffective against the tumor cells of each patient. It provides a detailed, easy-to-use summary of the effectiveness of a given chemotherapy treatment.
This cancer blood test is used to help clinicians select the most potent chemotherapy or combination of chemotherapies for each cancer patient, knowing that not all tumors behave the same way.
Eliminating the need for guesswork, the test supports scientifically backed decision-making. Onconomics is a guidance tool for cancer treatment, allowing clinicians to navigate the disease and make treatment decisions with confidence.
Onconomics from RGCC provides a comprehensive overview of the Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) in a patient’s body by providing the following information:
- A Circulating Tumor Cell (CTC) count
- A genetic and physiological expression profile of the cancer cells
- The effectiveness of 90+ chemotherapeutic agents and targeted therapies on the patient’s cancer cells
- The resistance factor of the cancer cells
How does Onconomics work?
By using liquid biopsy Onconomics assesses the genetic and genomic profile and employs a dual approach, combining molecular and cellular methods to evaluate the effectiveness of various cancer therapies.
The process involves the isolation of malignant cells through Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) and negative selection.
The isolated cells are then expanded and divided into two groups: one set undergoes viability assays, which determine how well specific treatments can suppress cancer. The other set undergoes epigenetic analysis and is subjected to transcriptomic microarrays, which assess the genetic and genomic profile.
The combined results of these two testing methods provide clinicians with a comprehensive breakdown of the most suitable and successful treatments for cancer.

Who should get an Onconomics test?
The chemosensitivity test, Onconomics is useful for patients who are about to undergo chemotherapy. It serves as a guide for the treating physician, directing them towards the most effective chemotherapeutic agents, as opposed to a standard protocol, which may not work as well. This is particularly important when second or third-line treatments have been used and found ineffective.
The Onconomics test is often performed after an Oncotrace test, which serves as a baseline assessment for patients undergoing cancer treatment. Oncotrace helps to evaluate cancer progression and evaluate treatment effectiveness when conducted before and after therapy, providing valuable insights to support clinical decision-making.
